How to play: 2048
Merge matching tiles to reach 2048. No clock, no daily puzzle.
- Swipe across the board, tap one of its four sides or use the arrow keys: all the tiles slide at once towards that side.
- Two equal tiles that collide merge into one with double the value, and that is what scores points.
- Every move that changes something drops a new tile into a random empty space.
- The game ends when the board is full and no move is possible.
Frequently asked questions
- Does this one change every day?
- No. Play it whenever you like, as many times as you want: what is saved is the game in progress and your best score, not a daily streak.
- Does a row of four twos become an eight?
- No: you get two fours. A tile that has just merged does not merge again in the same move.
- Can I keep going after reaching 2048?
- Yes. The notice appears once and the game carries on for as long as there are moves left.
