How to play: Crack the code
Four tiles and ten tries. Every guess tells you how close you are.
- There is a hidden code of four tiles, chosen from six symbols. They can repeat.
- Build your guess by tapping the tiles below, or with keys 1 to 6, and press Try.
- Every guess answers with two numbers: how many tiles are in the right spot (filled dot) and how many are in the code but misplaced (ring).
- You have ten guesses. When they run out, the code is revealed.
Frequently asked questions
- Can tiles repeat inside the code?
- Yes, and that is what makes the game interesting: the code can be two circles and two stars, or even four squares.
- If a tile is repeated in my guess, does it count twice?
- No. Each tile in the code pairs up with only one from your guess. If the code has one circle and you place three, only one counts.
- Can the tiles be told apart without seeing colours well?
- Yes. Each has its own shape —circle, square, triangle, diamond, star and hexagon—, so colour is just a companion. Same with the result: the filled dot and the ring differ by shape.
- Does it change every day?
- No, it is one of the play-whenever games. What is saved is the games you have won and your best number of guesses.
